This summer an artist has been selected and sponsored by the Canadian Lighthouses of Lake Superior (CLLS) to be inspired by the magnificence and history of Lake Superior -living at a lighthouse for a two week stay.
After a selection process, Gayle Buzzi is the winner. Ms. Buzzi is a graduate from the Honours Bachelor of Fine Arts program at Lakehead University. As
demonstrated by her extensive portfolio, she is inspired by the natural world. She works to create conceptual paintings as well as ceramic and sculptural pieces revolving around themes of nature and decay and our relationships with them.
The Artist in Residence Program is located at Porphyry Island Lighthouse, 15 km east of Silver Islet on Black Bay. It will provide the opportunity for the artist to practice their craft, share their vision and talent with visitors and sell their work. The artist will be provided with transportation to and from the island, living accommodations and studio/gallery space.
This residency provides breathtaking scenery for inspiration, seclusion for artists to create and a chance to be part of preserving this historic lighthouse for future generations. For more information go to our CLLS’s Event’s Page.
